Mauritius reopens its paradise beaches for South Africans

South Africans who are fully vaccinated can once again fly off to the paradise beaches, lagoons, and luxury hotels of Mauritius. Mauritius is welcoming back South Africans, after confirmation by the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority that the country has lifted its travel ban for South Africa. This means that as of Friday, 10 September 2021, South Africans can once again fly to the island of Mauritius without having to first spend 15 days outside the country. Authorised commercial flights from South Africa to Mauritius will commence on 01 October 2021 namely Air Mauritius, Comair South Africa, SAA, and Fly Safair. "From 01 October 2021, fully vaccinated travelers from South Africa, will be allowed to stay at any hotel, resort, or accommodation of their choice and move freely around the island." "Unvaccinated travellers will have to undergo 14 days quarantine in a state-designated quarantine facility," reads a statement by the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority. "We welcome the decision by the Mauritian government. South Africa remains a proximity and priority market for tourism on the island. We are delighted that we will be able to restart our long-standing relationship after an 18-month ban on travel." Last month, Australia, Germany France, Switzerland, Finland, and Spain also lifted travel restrictions that were imposed on South Africa during the third wave.
